Yesterday was the 96th anniversary of the day theeee best sorority in the world, Delta Sigma Theta was founded.
It was 96 years ago that 22 women with a vision of Sisterhood, Scholarship & Service came together and brought that vision into existence.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority was founded on January 13, 1913 by twenty-two collegiate women at Howard University. These students wanted to use their collective strength to promote academic excellence and to provide assistance to persons in need. The first public act performed by the Delta Founders involved their participation in the Women’s Suffrage March in Washington D.C., March 1913. Delta Sigma Theta was incorporated in 1930.
There is so so so so so so sooooooooooooooooooo much more to say. I am happy and proud to be a part of this Dynamic sorority which has really and truly made an impact on history.
One of my favorite Delta poems:
A Delta Woman
A Delta Woman, full of style and grace,
You hardly ever see a frown on her face
Full of class and of light, everyone knows,
This Delta’s tight, She never complains when something doesn’t go her way,
she prays and has Faith,
Knowing everything will be Ok.
A Delta Woman, It could be you or me,
But A Delta Woman couldn’t just be anybody…
OOOOOOO-OOP to all my DevaSTating Divas! Especially to Iota Chapter & Renaissance!
Luv, Luv, Luv
P.S.: While we’re talking about 1913…
Ain’t that tight?
